Civil Engineer

Purpose and Scope

The Civil Engineer is responsible for executing delegated responsibilities within a project team to the effect of assisting the Senior or Lead Civil Equipment Engineer in ensuring that all design and drafting output for the Discipline is carried out on schedule, within budget, based on sound civil engineering practice. design codes and standards, and to the complete satisfaction of the Client. He reports functionally to the Senior Discipline Engineer and operationally to the Lead Discipline Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Executing, as instructed by the Lead Engineer, all the tasks that are necessary to ensure the design and correct procurement for onshore structures, architecture and civil engineering services on a project, The Discipline Engineer is entrusted to:

Prepare conceptual designs (Structural sketches and preliminary sizing) as per the Lead Engineer's requirements
Issue Structural calculation reports
Issue Main Structural Sizing
Prepare and review material take off, material requisitions and purchase orders for civil commodities.
Prepare and check design reports and calculations for Civil works.
Prepare and review calculations and designs of Civil / Structural Engineering activities to ensure conformity with job specifications, codes and standards.
Provide design data and sketches required for drafting and supervise designers and draftsmen assigned to the project. Duties include checking of construct-ability and material specifications documents
Comment on IOC documents from other Disciplines and vendors
Carry out site visits for data collection and surveys
Assist the Project Lead Engineer in the preparation of technical bid evaluation for civil sub-contracts
Review drawings from other Disciplines, All design review procedures are as per GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE
Assist in issuing the Discipline closeout report.
Specific design procedures for the Civil Design Checking practice are as defined in GF: A 357 01

2.Definition of (asks and supervision of personnel assigned to the team, including checking of drawings produced. Pinal checking of drawings shall be by the Lead Discipline Engineer.

3.Coordination with Engineers from other Disciplines for the inter-disciplinary tasks stated in Protocol General Section 1.3 and in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE

4.Assisting in the planning and implementation of the Project to meet schedule and budget requirements

5.Assisting in the management, maintenance and control of documents and data required for the good execution of the work. Document Control procedures are as defined inGENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE

6.Participate in coordination meetings (both internally and with clients and vendors)

7.Providing Civil Engineering support to site engineers on technical query issues

8.Coordination with client engineers on Static Equipment engineering issues

9.Providing support in the Static Equipment area for procurement activities

10.Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and pre-qualification documents in what relates to Static Equipment engineering design (preparation of calculations notes, specifications, data sheets, reports, material requisitions, budget man-hours, etc,)

11.Contributing towards, maintaining and implementing both company, and client HSE Management System objectives and procedures, as specified in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE and the HSE Manual 1357 A -HS EM – 2

12.Assisting in Software Spread sheet development for authorized engineering calculations.

13.Complying with the applicable company procedures for the Engineering Department and the Civil Discipline as they are documented in DEPARTMENT WORKING PROCEDURErespectively, as well as those procedures in the references listed therein.

Operational Duties:

Discipline Engineer on Projects. Functions are as per project scope and as assigned by the Lead Discipline Engineer and Project Manager / Project Engineer.

As QMR, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME quality system is understood by Discipline members, and that the Quality Management System is implemented.

As HSE Representative, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME HSE Management system is understood and implemented by Discipline members.

Educational Requirements:

BSc Degree in Civil/Structure Engineering

Master’s Degree an asset

Experience Requirement:

Total of 5 to 10 years experience

Specific Experience Areas:

5 years in Detailed design of Civil works for Oil/Gas/Petrochemical facilities
2 years in construction supervision exposure an asset.
Computer Skills:

Candidate should possess basic knowledge of: MS Office,SACS(an asset),SAP Series(an asset)

Candidate should have advanced skills in: STAAD III
