Instrumentation Designer



Purpose and Scope

The Instrumentation Designer is mainly concerned with the preparation of design deliverables tor projects, tenders or proposals based on Engineers' plans and according to qualify standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Organization and co-ordination of design or drafting duties. Output includes:

Input / Output list
Equipment list Layout
Control Room Arrangement
Field Instrumentation Layouts
Preliminary Cable Routing
Typical Installation Details
Material Take-Off
Loop Diagrams
Permutation Diagrams
Detailed Cable / Tray Routing
Cable Schedules
Installation Details
As-Built Documentation
2.Development of drawings, models and documents listed above using CAD systems, as required for the Project or Proposal

3.Revision of other discipline drawings/documents for IDC when required and as per Protocol General Section 1.3 and in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE; Checking back-drafted drawings for compliance with QA standards and procedures when required; ; Checking back-drafted drawings for compliance with QA standards and procedures when required;

4.Completion of deliverables on schedule and within the hours allocated.

5.Providing feedback to Lead Engineers on client/site/vendor queries

6.Planning drawing deliverables in line with schedule requirements; Assigning and supervising tasks to Draftsmen to meet project schedule.

7.Providing technical support to draftsmen.

8.Review of vendor drawings as needed

9.Providing input for proposal preparation purposes. Deliverables include; Preliminary Input / Output lists, drawings man-hour estimation and Preliminary Equipment list Layout.

10.Contributing towards, maintaining and implementing both company and client HSE Management

System objectives and procedures, as specified in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE and the HSE Manual 1357 A HSEM – 2

11.Complying with the applicable company procedures for the Engineering Department and the Instrumentation and Control Discipline as they are documented in DEPARTMENT WORKING PROCEDURE respectively, as well as those procedures in the references listed therein.

Operation Duties:

The Designer reports functionally to the Discipline Engineers and Senior designers and operationally to an assigned Engineer or Lead Engineer depending on project size and scope.

As QMR, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME quality system is understood by Discipline members and that the Quality Management System is implemented.

As HSE Representative, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME HSE Management system is understood and implemented by Discipline members.

Educational Requirements:

Technical Certification

Experience Requirement:

Total of 8 years experience

Specific Experience Areas:

Good knowledge of Instrumentation theory
Oil & Gas/Refinery/Petrochemical Industry
Fundamental Knowledge of Design Practices
Computer literate including AutoCAD
Field Construction/Supervision Experience
Telecommunication
Proven Experience in:

Should have developed specific drawings/documents independently in an established project set-up.

Computer Skills:

Candidate should posses basic knowledge of:Integraph,Intools,MS Word

Candidate should have advanced skills in: AutoCAD,MS Excel, MS Access

Languages:

Candidate should have working knowledge of English
