Senior Electrical Engineer
Purpose and Scope
The Senior Electrical Engineer is primarily engaged in the design, modeling, and analysis of Electrical Engineering requirements on a project, and occasionally the requisition and installation of Electrical Engineering equipment, as per client instructions, TPME standards and project scope. He reports functionally to the Head of Discipline and operationally to one or more Project Managers or Engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Be it in the context of preparation for a tender / proposal or involvement in a project as Discipline or Lead Engineer, the key responsibilities of the Senior Engineer are:
1.Planning and executing Electrical Engineering design for power, earthing and lighting of industrial and commercial facilities. This entails overseeing the preparation of basic design, FEED and detailed design of the Electrical part of the project, and with output in the form of:

Review of drawings from other Disciplines. All design review procedures are as per GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE.
Specific design procedures for the Electrical Design Checking practice are as defined in GE A346-01
2.Coordination with Project Managers / Lead Engineers from other Disciplines for the inter disciplinary tasks stated in Protocol General Section 1.3 and in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE.
3.Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget
4.Technical and administrative management of the engineers/ designers / draftsmen team.; Assignment and co-ordination of activities within the team to execute the design / procurement related activities of assigned projects
5.Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with the quality management system of TPME
6.Document Control: This entails the development / update of the Document Register with accurate progress information on a regular basis. Each Lead Discipline Engineer is responsible for the discipline filing system for the project. He / she select useful documentation and data at the end of the project and include these in the Department main filing system. Document Control procedures are defined in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE.
7.Co-ordination with Project and client, subcontractors and/or suppliers.
8.Providing electrical support to site engineers on technical query issues
9.Coordination with client engineers on electrical engineering issues
10.Providing support in the electrical area for procurement activities
11.Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and tenders in what relates to Electrical engineering design.
12.Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Project Managers / Discipline Heads
13.Providing site engineering support, as well as other inter-disciplinary support should the requirement arise (e.g. Inspection or Procurement technical support).
14.Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology, and updating oneself on the latest international standards m terms of engineering design practices and their applications;
15.Conforming and contributing to the Discipline technical standards, knowledge database and Quality Procedures; identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity.
16.Contributing towards, maintaining and implementing both company and client HSE Management System objectives and procedures, as specified in GENERAL WORKING PROCEDURE and the HSE Manual 1357 A - HSEM – 2
17. Complying with the applicable company procedures for the Engineering Department and the Electrical Discipline as they are documented in DEPARTMENT WORKING PROCEDURE respectively, as well as those procedures in the references listed therein.
Operational Duties:
As Lead Discipline Engineer, when assigned on projects, responsible for managing the team of engineers, designers and draftsmen, and delivering the engineering requirements of the project as stated above.
As Acting Head of Discipline, whenever nominated, responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of the Discipline as per the Head of Discipline’s Job Description.
As QMR, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME quality" system is understood by Discipline members, and that the Quality Management System is implemented.
As HSE Representative, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPME HSE Management system is understood and implemented by Discipline members.
Educational requirements:
BSc in Electrical Engineering with Electrical Power Background
Experience Requirement:
Total of 10 years of experience and 2-3 years in Managerial Experience
Specific Experience Areas:
2-3 years in Electrical Engineer in Oil & Gas/Petrochemical environment
2-3 years in Power Generation/Transmission projects
5-6 years in Power Distribution projects
Proven Experience:
Some exposure to power system studies and relay coordination for distribution networks, in addition to basic engineering skills.
Computer Skills:
Candidate should possess basic knowledge of: MS Office package or similar
